Yes they suck big time. its been 1 month and 10 days since I had submitted my application and still the Internet is not up.
I submitted my application along with a cheque for the payment to Tata Indicom after the service agent had done and confirmed to me that it will be done within a weeks time.
After 10 days, this agent is not traceable, the only contact of him I have is his phone number, which is constantly coming SWITCHED OFF!
I tried syncing up with customer care of Tata-indicom and they say they CANNOT DO ANYTHING about it since they haven't received the application; I tell them "hey isn't the agent your employee? can't you trace him down?" to that they say NO. seriously WTF?
After 15 days the agent's cell is reachable and he says that he went for a VACATION and now he is working on for getting the connection up for me and is just a matter of 2 days.
Another week passes, frustrations building up, and now the agent's cellphone is again SWITCHED OFF.
After about a month the agent calls me and says due to laying of optical fibers my application was delayed( WHAT STOPPED HIM FROM COMMUNICATING THIS EARLIER?)..he gets the wiring done and tells me that next day a technical person from Tata Indicom would come to install the service on my machine. Its been more than a week and there are no signs of that technical person.. and guess what..Agent's cell is again switched off.
I have realized over time that almost all of these broadband providers are very careless about customer service with BSNL topping the list. This has some implications for the city and country. These sort of things make a city less conducive for Internet businesses, startups to be more precise.
I have been reading about comparisons of Pune with Bangalore for Internet startups where people claim that Pune is coming close to Bangalore for the conducive environment the city provides for technological companies. with this experience, I beg to differ.
On a similar note, I have also been talking to BSNL since January(yes 8 months now)for getting the Broadband connection and they have one comment every month, "Its going to be in place next month".
All the best to those poor souls who indulge themselves with these companies.
Update: The technical person arrived finally today and the now this update is from new broadband connection :). so it took me 1 month 10 days to get this resolved.

OH! Stories abound on the crap that TATA dishes out as broadband. I just got off the phone with them. Having major issues with my connection!! I HATE TATA

Yes, I do agree. Tata Indicom which is now promoted by VSNL is not at all good. I got it installed within 2 days but its not been working since first day after installation. There is no response from the executives. They will promise all kind of services and nothing I got. It is really a crapy connection.
Yeah,tataindicom (read tataindiCON) is full of dipshits.You know how they say that one shouldn’t argue with fools..they drag you down to their level,and then beat you with experience.That’s exactly what i’ve gone through since my association with tataindicom.They don’t do their work,and then insult your intelligence by saying stupid lies,which even a 5-year old can decipher the truth behind.I was actually told that the guy was in traffic and couldn’t hear me when i called him,on a landline number.This is after i called incessantly and he kept saying he would call back,and never did.So this is customer care.And,oh,the man who kept saying ‘take your money back’ deserves special mention.There i was,telling him how they’ve been squatting on my money,and how i’ve been asking for either the connection or a refund since a month,and he says “so what were you doing for a month? you should have taken your money back then only”.When i gave him an illustration of someone who i know who has been asking for his refund for a year,he says “If thats the case why did you come to Tataindicom in the first place,there must be something good about us”.These are the exact words of sunil shitole.Glad he has the word ’shit’ in his name.That’s all he is full of anyway.
The truth is,i met this person later..the waiting for refund for a year person.Oh,the price i’ve had to pay for my ignorance.
TataIndicom is meant to collect money for business without providing connection because they dont provide connection but they take money from customers.
If I recharge a month i will have connection for 5 days out of 30 days when i complain to the tata they say they will provide the days what ever I have lost in the next month after i recharge, But when I recharge the connection for next month they dont provide me the remmaining 25 days from the previous month however they provide only 10 days , they claim to me that I have used net for 20 days in the previous month. And and and in the current month I wont be having connecting for around 30 days.
Many times i screamed at them but they are so shameless that they never repaired the connection.
I have a weird twist to the Tata Indicom Issue I had and the way things panned out.
It was a BlackBerry service for which i obtained a very unusual response.
